Half of all employees say the best perk their employer could offer is a company car, according to a survey by vehicle supplier, OSV. Just over a fifth of those surveyed said that they had declined a job offer because it did not include a company vehicle.
One of the main reasons for the attractiveness of a company car, cited by 47% of respondents, is the opportunity it provides to drive a car they would not ordinarily aspire to because of financial issues or because ‘their partner wouldn’t let them’. However, only 10% of employers said they are looking to invest more in fleet cars over the next financial year.
OSV joint company director, Debbie Kirkley, said:
‘It seems that few employers appreciate the increasing importance of their fleet when it comes to attracting talent, given that so few are prepared to invest in upgrading their vehicles this year. I wonder if that will change too, as competition for talent acquisition hots up in the wake of Brexit.’
