Lack of recognition at work prompts people to look for new jobs, according to a survey conducted by Achievers of 1,724 employees in the US, Canada, UK and Australia. More than half of those surveyed plan to look for a new job in 2018 and a quarter of these cite a lack of recognition of their efforts as a factor driving this decision.
Factors persuading people to stay with their current employer include interesting work (cited by 74%) and reward and recognition (69%).
Owen Sagness, General Manager of Achievers, said:
‘With unemployment at record low levels, it’s more important than ever before to retain valuable talent. These findings underscore that employees are less influenced by incentives such as free lunch. They want to work for an employer that recognises and rewards their contributions to meaningful work.’
