Total UK overhauls benefits strategy

Total UK has launched total reward statements and voluntary benefits for 1,100 of its UK-based workforce. Employees will receive a printed total reward Statement (TRS) at launch and then have access to a real-time statement online throughout the year. They will also receive access to an online voluntary benefit scheme that incorporates discounts and cashback opportunities from hundreds of retailers.

Total is the world’s fourth largest energy group and Europe’s leading refiner and marketer of fuels. Total UK is the group’s UK refining and marketing subsidiary, and is based in Watford.

All elements of Total UK’s benefit strategy have been designed, implemented and administered in association with Benefex. The new initiatives are being communicated to employees using various forms of medium including letters, posters, two-page "desk drops", flyers and articles on the company intranet.

Verdict

The new arrangements, which were launched on the 2 March, have proven to be a “great success”, says Total's Nicola Russell, with 15% of employees logging in to the site to view their total reward statement or access the voluntary benefits scheme in the first three days.

A final word

“At Total UK we are proud of the range and scale of the benefits available to our employees and as such, we have introduced total reward statements to communicate the value of all these benefits in a personal way. We also wanted to help employees make significant monthly and annual savings and felt the introduction of a voluntary benefits scheme was a great way to do this.” - Nicola Russell, Total UK.
