Report finds Pakistani women have highest pay gap

A new report by the Equal Opportunities Commission shows that Pakistani women have the highest “pay gap” among women at 28%. This compares with the pay gap among white British women of 17% (both compared with white British men).

The research analysing pay gaps in relation to gender and ethnicity was undertaken as part of the EOC’s investigation into ethnic minority women and work, entitled Moving on up?, and published alongside the investigation's interim report.

The EOC is due to publish a final report in Spring 2007 with recommendations to improve employment opportunities for ethnic minority women.
