RECOGNITION PROGRAMMES

RAC introduces non-cash incentives

RAC is the latest company to join the growing list choosing to introduce flexible non-cash incentive programmes.

Together with service provider, People Value, RAC is launching a scheme called “Reward and Celebrate . . . Success”, which looks to incentivise performance in the field among its patrol staff.

RAC believes the scheme will act as a “meritocratic rewards system” in which its patrol staff will be awarded points each week according to their performance in the field. These points can then be redeemed against a range of rewards and products, including RAC-branded merchandise on a People Value bespoke redemption platform.

The aim of the programme, in addition to rewarding RAC staff, is to ensure employee satisfaction and motivation.

About the scheme

People Value’s programmes are web-based and can be customised to individual companies’ needs. They aim to provide a framework to reward employees online in an entirely automated and fully auditable fashion making it easy for managers to reward employees. Further, schemes can be fully branded to correspond to a company’s existing literature.

The RAC redemption platform was similarly customised to reflect the company’s branding guidelines and core values.

Known generically by People Value as “Excellence Awards”, the system comprises two components, the reward system and the redemption web site.

  • The reward system allows managers to select employees, choose a reward category or enter a specific reason for the reward. They can also choose a reward level or enter a number of points to be awarded, produce a reward certificate and send a notification email.

  • The redemption web site includes a catalogue of rewards with over 6,000 products including popular high street vouchers.

When the employee receives their notification email they can log on to the web site and get credited with their award points. They then select a gift of their choice and use their points to pay for it. If the gift item is over the value of points awarded, the employee can use their credit/debit card to pay for the difference.
