Pregnancy toolkit for employers
The Equal Opportunities Commission has launched a web-based toolkit specially designed to help employers manage pregnancy and maternity.
Designed with the help of small businesses across the country, the toolkit contains practical advice and real life business solutions to guide employers through the management of pregnant women and new parents.

The need for this toolkit was identified during the EOC’s two-year investigation into pregnancy discrimination, which concluded last year. It uncovered a lack of knowledge and understanding of maternity rights in many businesses, with managers unsure how to manage pregnant staff.

The toolkit should support the Government's new “Pregnancy and Work” leaflet, now being given to women expecting babies. The leaflet informs expectant mothers about their maternity rights, and includes a “tear off section” for them to give to their employer.
