PAY DATA

Pay in road transport and distribution

Average pay levels for drivers have been rising at higher rates than in other parts of the economy, according to results from the fifth joint survey of pay and conditions for drivers and distribution workers run by IDS and the Road Haulage Association.

What you will find in this IDS report

This 35-page report covers pay rates, working hours, holiday entitlements and additional payments in 69 companies employing over 28,000 employees across the road transport sector.

The 2004/05 edition expands coverage of the groups in the report. As well as large goods vehicle drivers, van drivers, warehouse operatives and vehicle fitters, the survey also now covers groups such as traffic clerks and transport/logistics managers.

It provides benchmarking data and analysis on:

  • basic pay rates, bonuses and overnight subsistence payments
  • basic and guaranteed hours, overtime and shift premium rates
  • recruitment, retention and training issues.
