Pay awards stall – XpertHR analysis

Median pay increases continued to run at 2% for the three months to the end of October 2015, according to XpertHR analysis. There is little variation around this median, with half of all 81 basic pay awards monitored worth between 1% and 2.5%. Employers plan to make similar awards in 2016, despite the fact that price inflation is expected to more than double over the course of next year.

Sheila Attwood, editor of XpertHR pay and benefits said:

‘As pay bargaining for the 2015 calendar year draws to a close, we don’t expect any shocks in the level of awards being made. Our data shows that 2% is firmly locked in place as the headline pay award for 2015. It also suggests that we are looking at more of the same in 2016.’
