Darlington-based Northgate plc, the light commercial vehicle hire company, has overhauled the benefits package for its 2,000-strong workforce. The rental company was established in 1981 and has seen significant expansion in recent years. Northgate was keen to enhance its benefit offering in order to increase employee engagement and improve staff retention through becoming a more attractive employer.
Northgate researched various options within the employee benefits market, and selected Personal Group. The group’s, Just For You programme, was rolled out in April 2015, offering a broad range of retail and lifestyle discounts as well as Personal Group’s own cash plans.
Hayley Burn, HR Business Partner at Northgate, said:
‘The face-to-face delivery was important for us and really appealed when we were looking for suppliers. A lot of our colleagues don’t have access to computers at work so we wanted to make sure they could access the benefits by phone if they wanted to. The initial response has been good and we’ve had some great feedback. We’ve had over 2,000 clicks and our employees have saved £6,500 already.’
