The data is drawn from Inbucon's twice-yearly Worldwide Living Costs Survey. According to the latest figures, Tokyo is the world's most expensive city, followed by Washington DC. Want to know more? Methodology: The index, set against a base of 100 for London, is calculated from six international cost-of-living indices and is based on the consumption needs of a married couple with two schoolchildren.
