EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
New mobile phone perk
flexphone is a new salary sacrifice scheme that allows employees to make savings on their mobile phone bills by giving up a proportion of their gross annual salary in return for a company supplied mobile phone.
By paying for the use of the phone out of pre-tax pay, employees can save between 33% and 41% on their mobile phone bills and the company saves employers' national insurance contributions.
The scheme is the result of a joint venture between mobile service provider Isis Telecommunications and accountants BDO Stoy Hayward who have gained full Inland Revenue approval for flexphone.
Just as with buying a phone on the High Street or online, employees can choose from the latest handsets on the market, the best tariff to suit their needs and budget, and they can select any of the major UK networks.
The employer buys the phone on the employee’ s behalf and deducts the cost from the employee’ s salary each month. Those who join the scheme are not required to use the phone for business, and are offered the same deal for family and household members too, representing even bigger savings.
