Introducing payments for recommending a new recruit

Many employers are realising the benefits of using their current workforce to help fill vacancies. A recent issue of IRS Employment Review looked at some of the well established refer-a-friend schemes and explored some of the payments on offer to staff for successful referrals.

This five-page study by IRS looks at the issues concerned with the design and operation of successful "refer-a-friend" schemes, including:

  • bounty payments and more creative rewards used by some organisations
  • business benefits of such schemes
  • importance of ongoing promotional campaigns
  • equal opportunities considerations.
