IDS publishes annual state-of-play for public sector, 2005

2005 will see some of the biggest changes to pay and conditions in the public sector for over a generation. This is the year that brings the roll out of pay and grading changes that have been years under negotiation. A new report by Incomes Data Services chronicles all the key "pay modernisation" developments.

  • The largest initiatives include the nationwide implementation of Agenda for Change in the National Health Service and the local implementation of the new national pay framework in the universities.
  • The new three-year pay agreement in local government is aimed at enabling all councils to complete single status by March 2007.
  • In the civil service there is the new policy of "coherence" aimed at improving on the delegated bargaining process to achieve greater harmonisation of salary levels based on a common framework.

All these changes are happening in parallel across the public sector. The IDS report, Pay in the Public Services 2005, examines all the changes that are happening and draws out the common themes.

What you will find in this IDS report

The 200-page report, the twelfth in an annual series, offers an unrivalled resource for managers, trade unions and policy makers in the public sector, providing fascinating insights into recent pay developments, as well as valuable benchmarking data. It is considered by many to be the most comprehensive encyclopaedia of public sector pay developments, with all the detail of pay changes and pay structures.

Written by a team of pay analysts with an impressive mastery of the subject, the study is supported by detailed research into recent government reward initiatives and an in-depth analysis of prospects for 2005.
