Flexible working can improve business competitiveness

Employment practices designed to make life easier for people to achieve a better balance between their work and home lives can have a favourable impact on business results, according to a government study.

The study by the Department of Trade and Industry provides renewed evidence that work-life policies — everything from flexible hours and subsidised childcare to career breaks and term-time working — can help reduce absenteeism, boost productivity and increase employee commitment
