Expansion in flex set to continue

Advances in flex technology have eased the delivery and administration of flexible benefits schemes, overcoming the grounds for many employers' concerns, according to research by Employee Benefits magazine.

Moving schemes online, for example, has enabled organisations to pass even greater control over their benefits to employees. The technological advances have also helped employers to consolidate the management of their benefits packages.

The 32-page supplement by Employee Benefits also suggests that the expanding competitive marketplace among suppliers offering low-cost schemes specifically designed for smaller employers has helped to open up flex to a much wider audience.

Avoiding the pitfalls

Few organisations or staff fully appreciate the value of keeping flex schemes fresh, warns Employee Benefits. "The message is loud and clear: flex should not be installed only to be ignored." Organisations must maintain momentum and should look to review the situation at least every year.
