FLEXIBLE BENEFITS
Elan Computing serves up new benefits package
IT recruitment company Elan Computing has launched a new online benefits scheme, comprising flexible benefits, voluntary benefits and salary-sacrifice elements.
Although Elan believed it already offered its employees a generous benefit package, benefits were neither well understood nor appreciated by much of the workforce. The company wanted to use its benefits to support business growth by helping to attract and retain employees, thereby differentiating itself in a very competitive marketplace.
Additionally, the HR team was keen to reduce the administrative burden of running the benefits scheme and to ensure that proper management information was available to develop its future reward strategy.
Elan selected thomsons online benefits to help launch a flexible benefits scheme and implement its Perquisite software to enable employees to enrol into their benefits, and then to access and manage their benefits whenever they wish.
What's on the menu?
A new benefit brand was developed for the package, called Central Perks, a play on the well-known café in the TV series Friends. The concept of Central Perks was chosen as the name is well known and easy to relate to for their relatively young workforce both in the UK and internationally.
Following the initial launch in the UK, Elan is now planning to roll out Central Perks globally.
A final word
"Central Perks has received a great reception from employees showing that we made the right decision to implement flexible benefits. We are very excited, and hope to extend it to the rest of our global operations. For the first time our management team believes it is getting value for money from its expenditure on benefits." -- Ade Atekoja, payroll and benefits manager, Elan.
