E.On amalgamates flex and voluntary benefits schemes
E.On has amalgamated its flexible and voluntary benefits schemes under one provider and has launched online total reward statements. The energy firm, which employs 16,500 staff in the UK, previously had its schemes administered by two providers, but both are now supplied by Benefex.
As Ant Donaldson, E.On’s senior employee benefits specialist, explained, the previous schemes had become out of date. "We knew there was confusion between the flex and voluntary schemes, so by having them under one roof we hoped it would make it much clearer," he said.

The voluntary benefits plan, My Choice Everyday, was launched in November 2009 with improved discounts and a new E.On-branded web site to access them.
Benefits fairs were held in October to promote the revamped scheme. "We also had a big push on childcare vouchers," said Donaldson. "Take-up has improved in recent years, but there are some groups who do not use them. We want staff to get involved by 2011 to make the most of the tax breaks."
The new flex scheme and online total reward statements also went live in February 2010 with new flex perks including experience days.
