Council bosses should not be paid more than prime minister, says local government secretary
Council chief executives face a crackdown on pay this week as government ministers seek to bring an end to the "CEO salary circuit", The Observer newspaper reports.

According to The Observer: “Eric Pickles, the communities secretary, will insist that he will no longer tolerate salaries higher than the prime minister's basic pay of £142,500. The Conservative minister is expected to unveil plans in the localism bill to make councils publish annual limits for management wage levels.”
