Scandinavian countries such as Finland and Norway have amongst the highest levels of statutory paid leave in Europe, whilst Belgium, Germany and Romania have the lowest, according to analysis from Willis Towers Watson. In the Middle East and Africa regions, Algeria has the lowest salaries whilst UAE has the highest, the data finds.
Western Europe's largest economies continue to witness year-on-year real wage growth, largely driven by continued low rises in consumer prices. However, salary increase budgets in the region’s larger emerging markets such as Russia sometimes struggle to keep pace with consumer price changes.
