A final word
“The causes of inequalities in pay between men and women are complex. Direct discrimination does exist, but it is no longer the primary cause. In its reports ‘Shaping a Fairer Future’ and ‘Towards a Fairer Future’, the Women and Work Commission examined the issues of career choices, part-time working, commutes, opportunities to earn bonuses, overtime, etc. All need to be examined in a holistic way, something which on their own pay reviews cannot deal with. That’s not to downplay equal pay reviews, but they are a start rather than an end point.” - Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
