PAY DATA
C&B professionals continue to be paid a premium
The median base salary for a compensation and benefits manager was £57,609, as at 1 October 2006, according to a study in a recent edition of Employee Benefits magazine, conducted by the Hay Group UK.
Salaries have risen by 40% in the compensation and benefits field between 1998 and 2006. This compares favourably with the rest of HR, where salaries increased by 30%.
More recently, between 2004 and 2005, base salaries for C&B roles increased by 4%. From 2005-2006, the increase was 8%.
This is considerably more than the overall average in HR over the same period, which is 3.5% a year for both years (about the same as the overall average increase in base salary for all job families).
