REWARD MANAGEMENT
ACA unveils Seattle conference line-up
UK reward practitioners often look — perhaps too uncritically sometimes — to the USA for ideas to reform their compensation practices. But for those of you who want to explore some of the new ideas at the top of the USA pay agenda there is only one place to start. That's the American Compensation Association's annual conference. Details of this year's showcase event have just been announced by the ACA.
Without doubt, this annual event is the world’ s premier gathering of compensation and benefits professionals. Each year, it explores current practices, changes and trends in US reward management, giving delegates access to expertise and experience, as well as a rich source of ideas.
The 2000 event, which takes place in Seattle over four days between 21 and 24 May, is expected to attract over 1,500 delegates. It offers 100 workshops covering current issues in rewards and recognition, benefits, executive compensation, international remuneration and, for the first time this year, the work environment.
The ACA prides itself on the quality of management speakers it attracts for its annual event. And the distinguished line-up at this year's event is no exception. The value of the conference is enhanced by detailed case studies presented by speakers actively engaged in introducing and operating new approaches to compensation strategies and practice. These case studies offer a fascinating and practical insight into not only how the reward strategies were implemented, but also the timescales involved, the problems encountered and crucially the lessons learnt.
In our experience, the ACA’ s annual conference is an eminently practical event which shows leading professionals — in major organisations in all areas of US business, such as Amazon, Chase Manhattan Bank, Microsoft, The Dow Chemical Company and many more — putting the latest theory into practice.
